In Manhattan, Marc Spector heads to his SpectorCorp offices to take care of long-neglected business, leaving his wheelchair-bound confidante, Jean-Paul DuChamp, to ponder his role as Bloodline, the potential champion of the Knights Templar. Spector, informed that the newly-established PhalkonCorp is making moves to solidify their business standing against SpectorCorp, assigns a research team to study their rivals. On his way to his office, having mistaken a previous encounter with PR Director Donna Kraft as a potential romance, Marc kisses her, and is rewarded with a slap. At PhalkonCorp, Marlene Alraune tells her new employer Seth Phalkon she will not divulge personal information from her past relationship with Marc Spector for business purposes. Hiding his ulterior motives, he concurs. That evening, patrolling Central Park, Moon Knight intervenes in a near-mugging/assault, then encounters two bizarre beings, Glaze and Cubist. The creatures have accosted the passengers and driver of a horse-bound carriage, Glaze encasing them in a resin-like substance, then they feed upon the horse. As Moon Knight approaches, Cubist's pheromones affect the hero's vision, allowing the pair to evade him. Moon Knight releases their victims from the substance and gives chase. Instead, he finds a gang of frat boys terrorizing the inhabitants of a shantytown, and assists the police in rounding them up. He later returns to his headquarters, Shadowkeep, where Jean-Paul is repairing computer equipment that, unknown to them, is systematically being damaged by a gremlin. Meanwhile, the two intruders in Spector Mansion, Gambit and the Werewolf, fight furiously making a shambles of the place, and set off an alarm. Moon Knight rushes to his former home to find himself in the middle of the melee.
